1. Individual Therapy
Referrals:
Private Sessions: No referral is needed to see a psychologist privately (see Private Health Rebates)
Medicare Rebates: If you have a Mental Health Treatment Plan and are receiving rebates, you may be eligible for a rebate of $$96.65. Under the Medicare Benefits Schedule (Better Access), Medicare rebates are available to clients with an assessed mental disorder. Medicare rebates are accessed with a Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral from a medical practitioner, psychiatrist, or paediatrician. The rebate is limited to 10 sessions per calendar year and only available with a valid referral. Please note the maximum number of sessions per referral is 6 and rebates will not be given beyond the number stated on the referral. After your 6th session you will be referred to your medical practitioner for a review of your MHTP. Please note that Medicare does not cover costs of psychological assessments.
NDIS: You can use your National Disability Insurance (NDIS) to access Unique Psychologist services; however, check in your NDIS funding if your plan is self-managed or plan managed (It is written in your NDIS funding plan). Unique Psychology is not a registered NDIS provider.
Private Health Rebates: Please consult your private health policy for inclusions and eligible rebates for psychology and counselling. If you are claiming a private health fund rebate, a receipt of your payment for the session can be provided.
Fees:
Australian Psycological Society (APS) National Schedule of Recommended Fees
At the start of each financial year, the APS provides members with suggested fees for different consultation types and lengths. The APS National Schedule of Recommended Fees and item numbers for psychological services lists the APS recommended fee schedule. The APS Board has approved the new schedule for 2024-2025 at $311 for a 46–60-minute consultation.

Cancellation Fees
When appointments are booked, the Psychologist reserves the whole hour, especially for the client, therefore the following cancellation policy is in place. We require 24-48 hours’ notice to reschedule or cancel a session without incurring any extra fees. This policy is in place to allow us to offer the allocated time to another client who may be on a cancellation or waiting list for an appointment.
